Organics Recycling Initiatives
The City of Austin has implemented a Universal Recycling Ordinance, with an Organics Diversion requirement for business with a food permit. Compliance is mandatory for all businesses in this category as of October 1, 2018. Waste Connections Lone Star offers commercial organics pickup of 65 gallon carts.

Nourishing NeighborsWe are also proud to partner with Keep Austin Fed. For every organics cart that is sold, Waste Connections Lone Star will donate $10 to the organization whose mission it is to 'reduce hunger and help the environment by connecting surplus food with our neighbors in need.
Organics Cart GuidelinesFor organics collection, always unpack organic materials before placing in the organics cart. Remove all plastic, metal, glass, and Styrofoam. Keep the container clear of contaminants such as paper, plastic, foam, foil and liquids. No liquids accepted. If your cart is heavily contaminated with unacceptable materials, it may not be serviced.
